|Bernard Hatley Facilitator|
Bernard Hatley, Facilitator, came to Fathers' Support Center in 2008 after a 15-year struggle marked by irresponsible and criminal behavior and a crack-cocaine addiction. He was in no state to be a responsible father to his children. In fact, Bernard says his life before FSC was a wreck. It took hitting rock bottom and serving half of a 14-year prison sentence to motivate him to change his ways.
At FSC, Bernard gained parenting, job-readiness and money management skills. He also gained a mentor in FSC facilitator, Reginald Slaughter, Reginald recognized a lot of his former self in Bernard and was able to relate to him in a very credible way. He pushed Bernard to succeed and to never give up - particularly when times are tough.
Bernard is currently the FSC facilitator at the North County location - and a man that his children and grandchildren can look up to and count on.
"I now live drug-free, and I'm a major part of my kids' and grandkids' lives. I'm ready to face life on life's terms and meet any obstacles head-on with the ability to overcome them," Bernard said.
