Walk the Talk: FFSC Teams Up with Fathers to Transform Riverview Gardens Schools!

The critical impact of an involved dad is undeniable, and this October, Fathers & Families Support Center (FFSC) is stepping up to celebrate and empower fathers in the Riverview Gardens School District!

Every Wednesday morning this month, as the sun rises, FFSC is proudly partnering with the district’s powerful “Fathers Walk” initiative. This special project is a vibrant movement dedicated to promoting positive male role models and highlighting the critical and often overlooked influence fathers have on their children’s lives.

Dads and Kids: Taking the First Steps to Success

Held at various schools across the district, the “Fathers Walk” brings dads, children, and the community together for an inspiring walk before the school day even begins. It’s a simple act with a monumental impact—showing kids that their fathers are present, supportive, and committed to their success.

“FFSC appreciates this opportunity to be present for fathers and support them,” said Reginald Slaughter, FFSC Community Outreach Coordinator. “Any help they may need for their kids, FFSC is there for them.”

The Numbers Don’t Lie: The Power of an Involved Father

The impact of an actively involved dad goes far beyond a morning walk. The data is clear: a father’s presence is a powerful shield and a rocket booster for a child’s future!

When a child has an active, involved father in their lives, they are significantly more likely to be:

  • Skyrocket Academics: 43% more likely to earn A’s in school and 33% less likely to repeat a grade.
  • Boost Mental Health: 50% less likely to experience multiple depression symptoms.
  • Stay Out of Trouble: an astounding 80% less likely to spend time in jail.
  • Future Focus: 75% less likely to have a teen birth.

Join the Movement!

FFSC is thrilled to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with these amazing fathers. We’re not just walking; we’re investing in the future leaders, innovators, and thinkers of the Riverview Gardens community. Keep an eye out for us—and give a big high-five to a participating dad!
