FFSC’s Dr. Eddie McCaskill, KMOV-4 Wellness Wednesday

We are beaming with pride to share that our very own clinical expert and Family Therapist, Dr. Eddie McCaskill, was recently featured on KMOV 4’s Wellness Wednesday! During a special “Beyond Anger Management” segment on My St. Louis LIVE!, Dr. McCaskill pulled back the curtain on the “why” behind emotional reactions, explaining how we help fathers get to the root of their behaviors to build healthier foundations for their families.

More Than “Anger Management”
For many men, particularly Black fathers in urban environments, the symptoms of trauma are often mislabeled as simple anger or “acting out”. Dr. McCaskill notes that these behaviors are frequently clinical symptoms of depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem rooted in unaddressed trauma.

At Fathers & Families Support Center (FFSC), we use a trauma-informed, evidence-based approach to interrupt these cycles. Our curriculum addresses Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) through several intensive therapeutic modalities:

Evidence-Based Therapies: Utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Narrative Exposure Therapy.

Reality-Based Therapy: Empowering men to take control of their current situations through behavioral focus.

Anxiety Reduction: Teaching practical tools like journaling, mindful breathing, and visualization.
